About Me

Those 80's school dances

A native Mainer, Pete began his 30+ year career in entertainment as a DJ at school dances for Wayneflete. While still in high school, he earned his first paying gig as an A/V technician for a local cable company. He also garnered a variety of acting gigs in community theater from Sanford to Portland

The 90's swing thing

Gravitating to the action backstage, he called the cues for his first show in a Portland Players' production of Cabaret.  In the late 1990's, DJPJ discovered the burgeoning swing scene as a dancer, deciding to specialize in the music of the 30's, 40's, and 50's. That decision would prove fateful: he earned a regular weekly radio slot at WMPG; became the regular DJ for the Mainiac Swing Dance Society; and met his future wife, Caroline, at her very first swing dance.

Passion for Stagecraft

Now retired from a professional career in public safety, DJPJ pursues his stagecraft full-time from Portland, Maine, where he is a proud member of IATSE Local 114, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees.  One of the highlights of his music career was introducing Bill Haley's Original Comets to a packed house at LL Bean in Freeport. Other highlights include live radio interviews with such national and local acts as the late Billy Lee Riley, Dickie "Be-Bop" Harrell, Bill Turner, Sean Mencher, King Memphis, Delta Knights, and drummer Lisa Pankratz. Through his wife, DJPJ discovered the production magic of figure skating, becoming a regular at announcing, music playing and production.
